Ingredient Spotlight: MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL!
Meadowfoam Seed Oil
Ever heard of it? I hadn’t either, and I’m not really sure how I stumbled upon it, but I’m stoked I did, and here’s why…
Meadowfoam Seed Oil comes from the seed of the flower Limnanthes alba or white meadowfoam native to California and Orgegon
The oil is very stable because of the long chain fatty acids it contains:
eicosenoic acid 61% This is an omega-9 monounsaturated fat and causes it to be similar to our skins own sebum
docosenoic acid 16% a polyunsaturated fat
docosadienoic acid 18% a polyunsaturated fat
It also contains Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant, important for collagen synthesis, protects the skin from free radicals, provides photoprotection while decreasing photodamage, and aids in healing wounds.
TEWL is an acronym for Trans Epidermal Water Loss which is the natural and gradual loss of water through our skin. It makes our skin appear dry and dull.
Vitamin C promotes synthesis of barrier lipids, it basically creates a barrier to hold in water within the epidermis to the skin appears and stays smoother and brighter, longer.
It contains Vitamin E, and we all know what that means, don’t we friends…ANTI-AGAING! BOOM!
Are you pregnant? Planning on becoming pregnant? Know someone who is pregnant? This glorious little oil will help prevent and heal stretchmarks! That’s why I put it in my Baby Bump Blend! It makes a great gift for the Mama-to-be and her totally rad bump!
